Look at it this way. It would be a pretty safe bet to assume that any changes made to existing classes or any new classes will be implemented in such a way that you have to use strategy in playing them. There will be exceptions to the rule. For example, you could still play the spam-bashing warrior or spam-pillaring invoker and be moderately successful. There's pretty much nothing you can spam as a conjurer and be successful.

As a conjurer you need to choose your servitors wisely. Use your familiar; I'm bewildered at the people that think they're useless. If we ever get the manpower together for some further changes to the class you're going to have a lot more options to choose from as well. You've also got a lot of divination type magic that makes you an incredible scout later in life.
