For evil shamans i would prefer duergars... They see the hidden, but have a huge drawback with all the invokers and conjurers that tends to throw geyser at you... Wrath from paladins hurts as well...

Another one you could choose as evil would be a fire giant, they have plenty of advange and theire vulnability to frost is easily covered...
