I've played warriors with every spec up to their highest power, so can probably give you some information on what is most popular. I don't guarantee you'll get enjoyment out of any of my advice, since the best characters are usually ones that are unheard of or challenging to play.

Fast races... these include arials, all elves, and felars (to a limited extent). Swords are best here, good damage potential, and very nice defense coupled with dodge. Spear/staff are second for sheer tanking power, but have less damage potential (unless you are felar, which do best with staff/spear). Daggers can be good, but painful to rank with. Whips are nice for a secondary spec, and help you clean up at higher levels on PK's. Never go HTH unless it is a secondary spec, as you will get chewed by mobs.

Small races... Gnome/svirf. Svirfs do well with maces, with their high strength. Both do very well with dagger, since smaller races dodge better and get certain benefits with dagger special attacks. Stay away from polearms/staves/spear, since these are heavily reliant on parrying and your target failing to parry you. Small size makes it very east to parry your attacks. Go for surprize first-strike attacks and try to screw them with specials attacks, instead of sheer damage.

Strength races... all giants, dwarves (in my opinion), humans. These do well with maces, axes, polearm, and to a certain extent swords (on the damage end of swords, they are less than spectacular tanks with them, however). Whips and hth are a must for secondary specs. Spear/staff and dagger are highly unrecommended since you get all the penalties of these weapon types and few, if any, of the bonuses in using them. Axes on a giant are one of the scariest damage-dealing machines in the mud. Giants with polearms can be one of the best tanks, since size is used for considering distance and parry.

These are just my observations. Other people may have had success with combinations I have recommended against, and you may find you enjoy playing that dagger-wielding cloud giant simply because it is so unexpected in Thera.
