CF is not totally about Cabals and Cabal Wars. Is it a big part, yes. the whole thing? far from it. My first hero was in Masters so I understand your pain. Before all the changes(going back before the Magic Nature War), Masters was all about roleplay and exploration for the most part, and Pk was a nice break. Now it's simply a counterpoint to sylvan and battle in the very structured conflict the Imms have designed. I would like to see it evolve towards something more towards a group of Thera's most powerfull and knowldgeable mages who rarely get involved in the politics of the other Cabals directly, but when they do act in force it is a force to be reckoned with. Keep the new powers but allow masters to Research new Spells! Think about it, I'm not sure how hard this would be to code, BUT at hero rank if a Master has perfected a certain percent of spells they would be able to research a new spell unique to them(well sort of). Depending on the class, an imm would grant a special spell or form from a set of say 6 or so from each class. Here are some Ideas.
Transmuters: Easy all ready a bunch of special forms out there just make one extra for each specialization. Yeti or bullete for Defense, Griffon for air Etc.
Invokers: Para-elemental spells. Fog Storm fills an entire area with fog making everyone unable to scan except the invoker, and blinds all in range while in it.
Conjurers: Conjure Arch Devil or Arch Angel or something even stranger.
Necromancers: Create Vampire, Create Death Knight, Create Lesser lich. Soul drain every person killed adds 10 mana to the Necro.
