I used to use a Telnet terminal at school all the time, I think the lenght was 80 chars or it would wrap around when you looked at it. When I'd type my descr in Telnet, then goto Zmud, it was horrendously too long, so now I type them in Zmud, which I think is where the 60 char line comes from.
