Hi
There are several mobs that talk to you. Most of them just ramble on when you enter the room, some you have to look at and then initiate a conversation. Last but not least there are mobs controlled by immortals. All of them is part of what makes the game an interesting place.
About the first two, they work with trigger words and/or sentences. Basically like the Omegus, the Scribe of the Empire or the Mayor of Galadon. Some of them will only speak if you do things for them, like handing them objects.
What you should always do with these talking mobs, is look at them, read the room description, think of the zone they are in, and then think about what your character would do. If you are a paladin you might help the family of the ruined keep, if you are a drow you might not.

This leads me to a problem about these quests. The once I know is all about helping, not really suited for evil players. Is It just my lack of knowledge or are there no evil quests at all (autoquests that is)?

Anyway, I hoped this helped a bit.

Søren
