Ok, I as thinking about how much fun liches add to the game. I was also thinking how few druids I see. And.. I was also paging through some old ADnD stuff about Druids.
Beyond a certain point Druids had to fight for their positions. The ranks were limited. However, they gained signifigant powers. Slowed aging, resistances to the elements.
So, what I was thinking, was some type of lich-like barrier, beyond which druids could not go unless they progressed through the ranks. The new powers acquired could be balanced by their wilderness-only limitations, and the strict code of neutrality which they follow.
Just tossing this out. But the idea or one grand druid, and 2 great druids running around with immense power.. but only in the forests and wilds appeals to me. And the limits of empowerment, and restrictions on the number of people at each advanced rank would prevent it from becoming a pk-happy class.
