Conjurers are indeed powerful, but I have found them somewhat boring to play. It's a constant cycle of build up mana, rest to get it back, then you are powerful for a certain amount of time. Once you are in combat, there is not a lot to do except sit back and watch the amazing pets go to work. (And go to work is an understatement.. check some logs to see how good they can be if used properly.)

There are rumors that one can exercise control of what familiar you get. It has something to do with race/class, and possibly the place of the first summoning, but I do not know the details.

The good races for conjurers are the good races for any other mage, except a lot of people have claimed that you are better off as good-aligned, because the angels/archons are nicer than the devils/demons. Alignment figures into how effectively you can summon/bind the aligned creatures. If you're new with conjurers, you might want to try a human, so that your PK range is safer at the middle ranks. It's a tricky class to get used to, but some people have done quite well with it.

That being said, it's one of the most unique classes. (Right behind bards in my opinion.) The coding is intricate, and a lot of their utility spells are surprisingly useful. If you are looking for a change, it's well worth it. But be prepared to invest a lot of time learning how they tick.

> I haven't played carrion fields in oaver a year, but have come back to it. However, conjurers are something completely new to me. Could someone perhaps give a little commentary on their abilities. What are familiars? is their any way to make sure that your first casting of familiar is more effective? what race makes for a good conjurer? can good aligned conjurers summon demons? if i remember correctly pets don't work to well with grouping, so are conjurers at all effective as part of a group? etc...
