I'm big on exploring. Most of my characters have had the "travel-worn" theme about them, dusty boots and ripped cloaks. I haven't had much opportunity to explore really high level areas, but the low- to mid-level areas I found most challenging:
Moria/Khazadum - damn that place is huge.
The Lost Elven Vaults - just before RL interfered and I autodeleted, I died several times in those vaults. Ouch. Almost as exciting as pking, though, since it's so hard to tell what's going on. (I'll leave you to find out why for yourself.)
The Dragon Sea - I remember getting utterly lost when the revision first went in. My poor newbie died of thirst out there... somewhere. I still haven't taken the time to map it.
The Aryth Ocean - And the depths and the western part, as well. I tried mapping this once, and I was amazed to see the complexity at the edges. (Just see where you end up...)

And, of course, the all-time winners and classic "blunder around until you find the damn exit" areas: the Shadow Grove and the Void. (A close runner-up in this would be the Forest of Barovia.)

My favorite area? Why, the Inn of the Eternal Star and the Lyceum, of course! I bet most people haven't seen everything there is to see in the Inn, let alone everything there is in the Lyceum... There are things on the walls and floor there, not just on the bookcases.
