He wasn't suggesting that people all undergo a transformation like the lich... In fact there have been many quest forms for transmuters, and quest skills for other classes that do not in any way detract from the uniqueness of necromancers. These additional abilities have always been in lign with what one might expect from the class that got them. I think the necromancer should however, be the only class that undergoes a fundamental transformation, instead of just getting an additional ability or two.
