One of the primary reasons the role command was
implemented was that so players could explain
their motivations, *especially* if they were
counterintuitive to the situation/cabal/etc their
character is in. As imms we recognize it is
sometimes difficult to differentiate bad roleplaying
to someone actually consistently roleplaying a
particular concept. In fact, while I recommend
everyone write a role, I particularly recommend
it to those who intend to roleplay an unusual
character.
However - and this is a BIG However...
While imms will give you some leeway for your
role, i.e. a corrupt arbiter, don't expect that
your written role is a ticket to avoid consequences.
If you are a corrupt arbiter and mortals are
constantly pointing the figer at you, then your
deception obviously failed and you can expect
your immortal can and will enforce the rules of
the cabal.
Basically if you are roleplaying anything unusual,
you are still taking a risk. The role is just a
way for immortals to see if you are actually
sticking to a well thought-out role, or just
being stupid. We see a lot of stupid antics,
and we get jaded, and may mistake legitimate
roleplaying for someone being stupid. Role is
a way to stave off that assumption and justify
your actions in the eyes of the imms, but it
is not fool-proof. If you're a fool, you'll
still pay the price.
