You are neither a tactically skilled nor successful player. You recently played a gnome master conjurer who nearly con-died before deleting. I remember thinking this typical of your characters, and I wish I could cite further examples, but they were alas so entirely lacking in merit that I fail to recall even one.

You cannot cite any further examples of my characters because you don't know any of my other characters. I completely fucked off with my gnome conjurer who benefits nothing from a complex trigger setup. Since most of the mobs come seconds later and attack, most of the damage from a trigger setup comes within the first setup. There are always certain exceptions from the rule, of course, I never intended for that message to get across.

I guarantee you I am faster and more successful in tracking and hunting people without the use of a single trigger (I use triggers, but for mundane things like saving on skill improvements) than you ever will be so long as you rely on brute force techniques like using a scan/track trigger. Unless someone is lagged, chasing and catching them requires active prediction of what their likely next move is going to be, which no script you ever write will accomplish.

Prediction? Prediction is everything. Knowing where you are at all times is definitely important, but there is more to PKilling than berserking and then entering the same room as the person you're trying to kill. So you've got someone fighting the Destructor, you don't need a scan trigger to tell you need to "dash w lash $target." I'll be damned if you can't make your commands faster with targetting variables.

Absolutely no one that I know who uses triggers in this manner comes anywhere near the so-called upper eschelons of PK ability. Nepenthe has often noted how a majority of his mudding time was done through raw telnet, and I know many other imms and mortals who have achieved great success without the aid of triggers.

Like I said, they're not for everyone. I can roll excellent stats without downloading a roller, but the roller makes it more efficient. My trigger scheme is just something that makes pkilling more efficient. A trigger to attack as an opponent enters the room is the CLOSEST THING I can get to going into a bloodthirsty rage. The only different is a few milliseconds and a cabal.

In conclusion, triggers.... They're available to everyone to use in theory, and they're not cheating. They help those who suck, but serve to place an artificial cap on skill so long as they are relied upon. They're not worth complaining about.

They help everyone that sucks? What's the difference between hitting F1 when you READ an opponent enters the room, rather than the client doing it for you? Reactionary time, that's what I advocate.

If you think that I built my trigger scheme from this MUD, you're sorely wrong. All you know of me is that I was some gnome conjurer in Masters that wasted his con away exploring the MUD and getting refamiliar with the game. The character in general was practically WORTHLESS for pkilling considering he had 273 naked hps.
