I feel your pain pal. A few months ago I decided that I was going to break my normal train of cf chars and do something different. SO I rolled my first mage char that I planned to really work on...it was an Invoker. And yes, I had the same experience. At first you spend all of your time spamming...get used to it, it doesnt change till you hit somewhere around hero range. But something you will find is that there are some tricks, some places you can go to really get some learning done. To be honest, there are some places in Thera that people just dont go on a regular basis. Its all about the learnin...that little need to teleport often helps too. But just as you are going through the countless hours of spamming remember these things.
When you die, EQ means little as far as your base ability to cause damage.
You will almost always have some spell that can take advantage of someone or somethings weakness.
When you meet an Invoker above the 40th level that has all the shields mastered...even if they cant pk for shit, and even if they suck at roleplaying, you have to give them respect for being damn patient.
And remember, with invokers you truely have to earn your spells. And to be honest, if you havent felt it yet, you will soon see how fun it can feel to read "You have gained a sudden rush of insight into ****!"
Invokers are definatly a class made for people who are willing to work for each and every skill/spell they attain. More than just the mindless hack n slash to power level to attain the next cool toy. They take time, patience, and a lot of coffee.
So when you are sitting there...spamming...know that you arent alone. There are others of us in the same boat, praying for that next spell.
Kudos,
Alex...on a mindless, meaningless rant.
