I think I have a pretty good handle on rp, and even of alot of game mechanics, after years of doing it, and I am still not a very good pker. I've had a couple chars who did alright pking, but more because of the class/race/cabal combos than due to my skill.
That being said, there *is* benefit, even for being "badass", to dedication. That is the ability to get away and live and learn. If you stick with the char, and have your role, you find yourself in lots of different situations and can see how things work, rather than just dumping your char the first time you die.
I'm pretty good at getting away, and running around, even though I often have great difficulty "closing the deal" when I attack someone. And I think that comes from having played a number of dedicated, long term (age death) characters.
