Attacking a mage that is a Master is merely an added risk, but for starters, how hard it is really to find out if they are a Master? Most of us walk around holding tomes and most of us will tell someone if they ask. However, if you do attack them without knowing, then this probably means you don't know hardly anything about this mage. If this is the case, then you probably attacked this mage for a roleplaying reason (i.e. he is a mage, or he is evil, etc. etc.) Therefore, this should hold priority over whether or not you are going to anger some people because of it.
Basically all I am saying is that if you begin to label Masters, you are going to get several people who break their roleplay and won't attack someone they should because they are scared they might anger some people. And for all you people who claim to be allies of the tower, if you truly are an ally, you should have little problem getting another Master to tell you who all is of the Tower.
