You've taken his quote out of context. What he said originally:
"No, I do not think that in order to do this, they would have to make paladins powerfull, or give them an archangle form, making Liches not unique."
Admittedly, this isn't a particularly well-formed sentence, but you'll notice what it says is that the Imm's do NOT have to make paladins more powerful, and they do NOT have to give them the archangel form, and that it would be a BAD thing to make liches non-unique.
You seem to believe that he is claiming that making liches non-unique is good, which is exactly the opposite of what he was trying to say.
