No, not at all, but it does help to have an idea of where some
important things are. I am not an elite player, but I have an idea
on where to get some things that Nep vaguely suggests. 8P

> Well, I confess. I'll never be a player. If you mean to match hours of playing against hours of playing, well, I guess I'm screwed.

A little exploring now and then it quite helpful. It doesn't take
a huge amount of hours to get a good base.

> But, wait..crazy me, what's that I heard of there being something heard for RPing a bit?

Now you are just being silly. You spend your time in the game doing
the things YOU want to do. If you enjoy roleplaying continue to do
so. The rest will come in time. Eventually, you'll find that you know
where some important objects/equipment sit.

> I have all respect for those that spend thousands of hours knowing which little pebble to scrape for a wand of armor that might give them an edge. At the same time, I like to think I play a game where I can be a relatively newbie with a shred of intelligence and do okay.

You know.. that's all I was suggesting from the very beginning. Thanks
for making my point for me.

> I once heard someone claim that CF was an elitist's game. Is that true? If my lil buddy tells me where the cool shit in CF is, can I beat anyone no matter how smart or intuitive they are?

What do you focus on when you play? Do you want to be an elite killer or
an elite roleplayer or both? There are some elite roleplayers who aren't
elite killers and vice versa.

> Ask any newbie who tried to play CF....is this a game for anyone?

This isn't a game for people who's ONLY idea of good gameplay is Quake.
This game isn't mindless... it has a number of facets to it that make the
overall experience a good amount of fun.. on most occasions. 8P
