A number of IMMs have commented in the past that the format you choose for your role is not important, be it journal, diary, third-person omniscient, or Broadway musical. What -is- important, is that your role should describe the things that IMMs would know about you if (being all-knowing and all that) they had watched your character in the past. Normally, I would prefer a third-person perspective, but for certain characters, more creative presentations may be best.

And, despite your claims about role vs. diary, my recent "diary-style" role seemed to go over quite well with the IMM I interact most with. The IMM referred to things I had put in it, that I had not previously brought up, so I know the IMM read it, despite its considerable length. The diary style was important to me- I am intentionally playing a character who thought one way when quite young, and learned a better way to live (in his mind) from interactions with certain other mortals. The role documents the process, as well as explains why I may have said something to someone at level 5 that I would never say now.

I'll post it when age death or con death gets me... though I'm a long way from either. Again, to whoever came up with the role command: Simple, elegant, brilliant.

> I have written mine fairly simple and to the point. I write in the background and what motivates my character. After that I only write in if something significant happens that changes my characters outlook on life or a new philosophy. Write it how you like, but remeber some one has to read it and it is called - ROLE - not diary or journal.
