To wait so 40 years later in the characters life to pop out of the blue and go, hey, you helped some bard and elf 40 years ago, you are not EVIL!!! You now anathama from Empire. Hell, if some immortal popped out of the blue and began questioning me, first I would be nervous and could not think straight. I mean it is pretty hard for some people to act evil when we are ourselves good-hearted people. Now I could easily come up with a roleplaying answer, but out of the blue, I would have been at a loss for words.
I just think it was in bad taste to do that. Not all of us are expert roleplayers. We are still learning. Rather than doing tasteless stuff like that, why not do stuff like roleplay yourself in front of mortals more oftened with an immortal or mortal character. Set the example, show us how it is done. Istendil had more of an impact on roleplaying than any other character in the game. I learned more from him and others like him about roleplaying. Seeing a lich quest and how others did some cool emotes helped me more than from some immortal popping out of the blue and anathama someone for a mistake they had no idea they were making. We all make mistakes. It is tasteless to ruin someones character for a simple mistake. 100 hours down the drain, what did he really learn from that?
