I've written numerous posts over the years on why implementing ranged attacks and doing it right, not half-assed is a far from trivial problem. You can probably dig one or more of them up if you do a forum search here or through Glimo's backissues. If someone else wants to rehash and reponder the numerous pitfalls, you're welcome to -- but I'm not interested.
