First of all, they proably been stalking ten times longer then you think. You can stalk someone for two real game hours and still miss. Trust me, I know.
Second, a real assassin would never stick around. They would walk up to you, put a dagger in your back, and continue walking. That is what assassins do. So fleeing is what they should do since they cannot just try and keep walking.
Third, if they are doing it over and over, you are a stupid moron and deserve it. Go some place where they cannot hide, there are plenty of those. Wait a couple of minutes and all the stalking they did before hand will stop.
If they are not stalking and just trying an assassinate, they will continue to fail, the immortals coded new assassins esp for this purpose.
Finally, aren't you are fricking bard? Talk about cheap way to die, go fiend a fire giant.
