Fist of all, thanks for the very imformative post.
My question is, is there any room in the Empire for the concept of "Enlightened self-interest"?
For example, during the robber-baron period in American Economic history Henry Ford was one of the first multi-millionaires to do things like a reduced work-week, higher wages, benefits, ect.
Now the reason he did this wan't because he was a nice guy. In fact, he was an asshole. He realized, however, that people with motivation and incentive work harder than slaves. By having more productive people, he would make more money.
Would that be an accpttable role for a sect leader? An evil, greedy asshole that realizes he gets more flies with honey than vinegar?
