1) Plenty of fools have stumbled into hero range by relying on groups to protect them, and otherwise never leaving their guild. The average skill at hero is quite high, but some slip through.
2) Perfecting spells that can be spammed in a guild requires no 'skill' at all aside from practicing somewhere far off, and typing "where" often.
