Arial, drow, elf, h-elf and human are all ok for an invoker. They have decent int, have their good and bad sides. Just thing twice if you're taking svirf. They have pretty low intelligence. You are going to spend a lot more time with a svirf than with any other race you named. If you join masters, magical control (it is more valuable to master invoker) and tome will help, but it will be hard to be a svirf invoker anyway.
