Purge is what is done to clean up the random garbage that acculilates in areas. Think of the Mud school...how many maps/keys do you think is dropped in their by all those newbies...? a purge can either be forced by an imm, by Purge room/area commands, or set to purge a room area every so often automatically.

Usually the Nopurge flag is put on items that are not on a mob but are on the floor/in a chest in an area to keep it from disapearing in these purges.
