I can think of one good example, and some rambling about paladins.:

Search for Everntien's death note. ("Then all of my gear starts crumbling, so delete delete i guess.", among other gems.)

If you want to answer the question: "What is wrong with the Paladin class?", look no further then Everntien syndrome. Scout, login only if safe, logout if that nasty lich/Council/other evil shows up, collect nifty gear, and become the world's master of locate object. Big E was not nearly alone in this- I can think of two rather conspicuous examples right now, and several that came in between.

My theory: Paladins are a weak, narrow class right now, with few races to pick from, few cabal options (Arbiters, Dawn, and a couple of pseudocabals like the Maran, Ehren, and such.), and very little to offer when placed next to a good shaman. The "Power Players" avoid them because either "been there, done that", "not good enough for PKing", or "I might end up grouping with one of those other Paladins". I played one a while back, but I had trouble getting interested in what I saw as a very one-dimensional character. Obviously, if I had come up with a better role, this might not have happened, but it's a difficult class to think of one for, at least for me. I have one that I think I could pull off, but it's too close to my current char, and I like branching out.

Another reason is the horde of lowbies that try to manipulate paladins. I would definitely play a role that allowed me to say "No." firmly when some Swordpupil wants a nice sword to "go fight evil with." Playing a Paladin Arbie (my last choice) is even worse. You spend all your time fielding requests, and I felt like I was playing the game as some sort of "help staff", except that the "Help staff" was PKed a lot. (Add regearing myself to gearing everyone else and protecting cities.)

If you disagree with this post, please point out an example of a very-well-played Paladin from the last six months or so. Maybe I just didn't meet him/her. But there are twenty Everntien/Starlan/Lance/whoever paladins for each interesting one.

On a more positive note, rumors that a Paladin revamp is quite close have been flying around for some time. All of the recent revamps have brought big surges of interest into the revamped classes (possibly excepting druids, but that revamp was still good for the game), and I really hope that Paladins make a comeback. Every world needs heros.

> I have heard so many tales of lightwalkers, mostly paladins that acts like evil ones and only think about their self and getting all the better things for them even when others are in needs. The question is do immortals sometimes check on those lightwalkers and outcast them from the light.. or they are free to roleplay what they want and still request all those nice things...
