At the time of the joining-forces-for-item-getting in question, yes, I'm very sure. There were some very significant other events for the character the same night so it's more etched in my memory than it could be, considering this is going on two years ago. At the time Istendil and Golmagus started talking, no. Istendil probably wasn't even Emperor yet then. He talked to plenty of lower level necromancers, and if you didn't seem cookie-cutter or a poor copy of him he tended to keep talking.

That's quite possible. The guy made me (the player) laugh. Whether or not you think my sense of humor needs work is another story.

Nothing as far as I'm concerned. I might have even been to the point of planning ahead to try to join Arbiters after the inevitable Anath. If there was. . .Istendil was in Empire, and even led Empire, but he wasn't necessarily a good imperial. (I did start him up for Shadow) He was him.
