For me, I guess it's not just Galadon.

I almost *always* pick Galadon/Ofcol/TV/NT/Blackclaw as a hometown to start, because of centrality and the excellent roads system that allows me to get around easily as a newbie. Pit waiting and recalling to safety aren't major concerns as a newbie. Guilds and protected areas *are* fairly safe havens when you're below level 30-35.

Then, once I'm higher level, I relocate to a more remote hometown once movement isn't a problem, and more magical means of transportation are available.
