I think it sounds like a good idea, if for nothing else than bloodoaths.

It seems far less likely for someone to be struck down by the gods if they take the blood oath, than if they petition the gods themselves to make the change. Er... maybe that didn't make sense...

Anyway.. I like the idea... two thumbs up.
