*cheer* Thank you Saerin, seriously...I'm just a guy, like the rest of you. On the forum call me Shok, call me Shokai...whichever floats your boat, if you know my real name, and have some dieing urge to spit it out *shrug* whatever. But Shok will work well enough for me.
What I meant by the statement is that one of the primary uses for the role command is to allow for people to be very different, and have a rp reason why they're that way, so we immortals can tell who is just screwing up, and who is actually roleplaying.
An example...two people get anath'd. One has a role saying how 'deep inside they've always felt a spark of the light' or 'after reflecting upon the time in the Empire, and speaking with (yadayadayada) I realised the error of my ways' and then start rp'ing a change...it's going to get us to notice that they're doing more than 'oh shit, anath'd...need to make allies'. Now lets say that other anathema doesn't have a role, at all...and just shows up praying for a god of Light. Which do you think we're goint o give a little more credibility to? That was what I meant by have a role to back you up if you're going to do something wierd. (I didn't give a good example so I'll give a slightly better one)
two drows:
Drow 1...has a role detailing how the character is going to begin to see the error in his ways, and turn towards the light, from day 1...and roleplays this change. Obviously the immstaff is going to be clued in, and help him along with both hurdles and rewards...as well as (if rp'd well enough) his ultimate goal fulfilled.
Drow 2...one day shows up and prays that they have seen the Light....with no role at all. Immstaff is going to shuffle thier feet and watch him, and see if it's a whim or what.
this was what I meant by having a role to back yourself up.
