Through recent experiences I have developed some theories on lag. One theory is that the Immortals notice two individuals ready to fight, and take the side of one individual and bombard the other's site with packets. Another theory is that all ISP administrators are evil, evil people who have too much power; they know what MUD you are on, they know what you are doing on it, and they know how to screw with you. A third theory I have is that the computer is really a form of artificial intelligence. It interprets someone attacking you as a sign of failure, and protects itself by freezing the screen right at the line 'Someone DISARMS you and sends your weapon flying!'
I admit that these theories seem a bit farfetched, but they are the only theories that make sense to me. God, I despise lag. Oh, and of course if you decide to reconnect during battle the Imms slay you for trying to avoid a death. It's a lose-lose situation..
But hey, enough of this, I just want to thank everyone for taking the time to read my little rant as I go back to re-equipping at 26,000 bps on a 56.6kbps modem.
