What can I say. My phone lines are gnawed at by pigeons and corroded by the waste from the textile factory a quarter mile away. My 56.6Kbps connection gets peak times of 3.2Kbps. I lose link consistently thanks to all the cool online gizmos I just *have* to have on my computer. Where would I be without Attune, Webcelerator, and Yahoo! Blackjack running in another window while I sleep and regen.
So I guess I deserve whats coming to me. But hey, it's really annoying when you regain your link, log on, and find yourself at the Temple Altar. It's not only that your dead, but you have no clue of your killers, and therefore revenge is not an option, save for going ballistic, equipping with a practice sword, and "taking it out on the world."
Let's take it from the perspective of the killer. Your 20-round fight leaves you noticing that the assassin with (almost) perfected trip, throw, caltraps, kicks, and wide arrangement of taunts isn't doing anything else save for scratching you with his punches after you disarm him. You have several options, the first to remain fighting since its an easy kill with the prospect of decent equipment, or you can attempt to show honor by waiting for animation to take place, and take the risk of being attacked by an angry assassin.
Sure you're playing an evil chaotic believer of Destruction, but I wonder if you just get so involved in the gameplay that you forget there is a whimpering (real) person behind the character praying for the beeps and whistles of his modem to connect him.
If not, well then I feel just sad that you realize you are harming a person (perhaps that is a bit extreme, but at the very least you're frustrating him), but such is the fate of link death (pardon the pun).
I apologize for the crude structure of my rant, but I rant best when I type the ideas that enter my head right after said incident.
I thank you, reader, for taking the time out to read my little rant, and hopefully you have learned something, perhaps that link-death-killing is evil and wrong, or perhaps you realized that it is a profitable means of moving your character up in risky world of CF (Risky meaning there is a chance for success, pride, and profit but there is also a chance for failure, weakness, and hopelessness).
Farewell, reader, and don't judge me based on these words, they're written out of emotion.
