Current Rager policy is to take five classes:
Warrior, Thief, Assassin, Bard, Ranger.
Any rager applicant, regardless of class, should not practice spells, or skills such as staves or scrolls. Rangers, even without the two skills and four spells, can do quite well as Ragers, as the powers more than make up for the loss.
Ragers can use healers, so long as it is within the confines of their god's Shrine.
Anti-Paladin ragers were allowed a long time ago, but are not considered anymore. To my knowledge, there have been zero inducted since the policy changed.
"A mage that wanted to give up magic might have a chance": Um, not really. Never been done, to my knowledge. If you feel up to it, go ahead. But that's like saying "Duergar have a chance to be paladins." There are only so many Avendellas, Grallon.
