> Yeah, I can see your groupmates beign warned about a damaging song, but your cabalmatse having selective hearning? Why is it that you only hear the hamrfull songs when you're fighting them and not the helpfull songs?

Everyone hears the same songs. They just don't necessarily affect you. Here's an admittedly lame real-life example. Think about a sports team playing an important game in their home stadium/venue. Both teams are hearing the same cheers, yells, chants, and so forth. But one team is buoyed by that energy, the other is intimidated by it. Yet, they both hear the same thing.

> Selective hearing? Fire and ice? Phantamsal fiend? An area effect sleep song that ONLY effects your enemies? I'm sorry, I still think bard songs are magical.

Yes, in the real world, if a guy sang a song that made you think your flesh was melting, you'd think something was seriously fucked up.

Thera isn't Earth, anagrams aside. The immortals specifically say that bard songs AREN'T magical. They're illusions. The songs were explicitly revamped to reflect this. Fire and ice used to basically be fireball or iceball, except it was a song. Now, if you'll look closely, it does one of six damage messages, of three varying degrees, reflecting the extent to which the listener "believed" the illusion you were weaving with your voice.

> And an area effect sleep song is just sick. Really.

It's nice, yes. Um, so? Blackjack is sick too. It works nearly all the time. Lots of things are sick. Bard sleep has a long lag on it, as 95% of bard songs do. They can't spam it for you, the way a necro or thief can spam sleep/jack, since they can't target it. And so on.

> It doesn't fit with a village of "the greatest warriors in thera" to have their best PKers flighty guys that just sing more than they fight. I really don't see how some angry, hatefull villager will accept I guy who can just say a few words and have all these wierd, magical effects that others can see.

There are currently three bards in Battle. Four if you count one who doesn't show up.

I inducted maybe 30 people. Two of them were bards. That's not exactly an overwhelming ratio.

Furthermore, what are you smoking when you're saying bards are the most successful killers in the village? I guarantee you that I, or Minalcar, or Ludi, or Iolanthe, or Ioanis, among many others, have killed more people than the bards you're grousing about.

> If someone can sacrifice their RP to get better PK, they will do it, alas.

Not under my leadership, they didn't.
