AC vs. magic has NOTHING to do with spells.

If you fight someone who has an "unusual" attack type (not piercing, slashing, smashing, crushing, etc.) then it checks their hitroll against AC vs. magic if you fail to parry/dodge/shieldblock/etc. the attack.

AC should never be a concern when gearing yourself beyond level 15-20.
