In Reply to: Thanks Enforcer for stiring it up. But screw the Law thing I've seen a lot of people unable to define GOOD & Evil are adequately. Any takers? posted by Sgt Leg fires another Bee-Hive round! on May 5, 2000 at 15:01:33:
I'll start with what 'evil' is (in terms of CF at least). Evil is quite simply doing things for your own benefit without regard for what it costs someone else. Good would be doing things that may benefit you, but not at the expense of others.
What becomes difficult about good v evil, is that obviously in the real world, they are not absolutes. In CF though, they are. Now add in rationale for action (role + ethos + religion + race + cabal = rationale for action) ...you get a pretty muddled picture of what good can do and what evil can do. An example, one of the questions I ask every Maran is 'how are the Maran different from those they fight'. I've heard a lot of different answers, some I agreed with..some I didn't. However, obviously the Maran are good...right? I mean they have a gold aura, and they fight people with red auras. Yet on a basic level, some of the best Marans have been bloodier than some of the more violent Imperials...and have killed with about as much vigor. Confusing? Not really. Am I rambling...oh yes.
