You are right, you aren't making sense. You have three character's in the same range, and by default you as a player have ic and ooc knowledge of all of the players you've grouped and interacted with from all three. When you run into "Jane", your Sylvans best friend as your Empire character:
1. You know what color underwear she is wearing.
2. You know how she fights.
3. You know what she has in her inventory.
4. You know she hates imperials.
etcetera, etcetera, adnauseum.
And yet, this doesn't effect how you approach her? *cough*
But you NEVER use this information, to let anyone know that you've scouted them in character. Admirable.
