No. What I was getting at is that a major cause of MUD instability is the constant tinkering the IMM do with the code. (I rather like the constant tinkering, actually.) I pointed out -one- documented case where this was true, because it was easy to demonstrate. It is called, in the technical parlance, "an example". I also remember a period of crashes right before the new Rager powers went in, though I haven't dug through the Mighty Forum Search for it.
> Of course, this is incorrect, because isnt it true that last time it crashed the power went off because of a storm?
"Aside from stuff like hurricanes and floods" is a phrase you apparently missed during your reading. I am well aware that other factors might also cause crashes. But the MUD has been in an up-and-down state for the past few days, which is not indicative of that. The power outage produced one long crash, as you would expect.
> And this is so far(from what I hear) just a single, all-be-it long, crash.
Yes, which is consistent with my "tinkering" hypothesis.
> Getting the mobs hopes up, isnt a nice thing, blady.
Actually, it is. I was pointing out that crashes often have a silver lining. I even gave "an example".
> Not saying it is NOT that something is going in. But just because it crashed numerous times once when a new class went in, does not mean every crash will bring in something new.
"Aside from stuff like hurricanes and floods", again. There are a host of other things that could bring the MUD down in this pattern as well (virus, hardware problems, ISP issues, etc.) But I'm making an educated guess that it's because they're testing something new. I obviously have no idea what. I might even *gasp* be wrong. But I'm guessing anyway. I'm crazy like that.
Any questions?
