There is a movement delay, for one thing. When you use dash the command and movement all occur during the same pulse, that is, they happen at once.

Uses include getting the first attack on those bloodthirsting ragers (or anyone, for that matter), surprise attacks, and various other tactical maneuvers. (Dash/pull can be very useful)
