> HELP ALIGNMENT and the Academy both have general descriptions of what ethos and alignment combinations should be played like. They aren't absolute rules, but your character should have more aspects in common with the combination as indicated than any other combination, or you're roleplaying poorly. Specific events in your Role can indicate why you take specific actions, but you should avoid going against your alignment/ethos combination.

> Regarding the boot quest, its in a newbie area and is meant to be fun for newbies and teach them. There is no role-playing reason for an evil to EVER complete the quest. If you do so you are simply using OOC knowledge to get a specific item that violates your character's role in Thera. You can argue this until you're blue in the face, but I'm telling you right now that no matter how you argue it, if you're going Empire and you do this quest you're gonna get punished. If you bring about Immortal attention for whatever reason the chances are its going to be judged harshly against you.

> For those of you who say if you put it in your role than its OK to do the quest, that is even worse in my opinion. You're corrupting what Role (a great recent addition to the game) is supposed to be. There are some extreme roles that are evil who may have reason to get the boots, and if its well written and explained perhaps you might get away with it, but it had better fit with all of your actions in your life.

> Should the quest be coded to not allow evil people to do it? Maybe, but the fact that we would have to do that speaks very poorly for the populace of Thera. ROLEPLAY! Play your role whether you're interacting with Mobs, Players, Immortals or sitting in a room by yourself.

Most simply do not recognize that what they do is destructive or disruptive. People and things that obstruct the evil characters's plans are mere hindrances that must be overcome. If someone is harmed in the process well, that's tood bad. Remember that evil, like good, is interpreted differently in different societies.

But if he felt that could not (and Carrion Fields allows for trial and error by repop...) he would go along with the quest to get the reward to make him more powerful. Of course if this interfers with immortals plans somehow then the imm has every right to kill a character. I do not see how getting the boots actually interfers with the imms or the Empires plans. I actually think that it shows that the Evil chracter will do anything (including helping a good NPC) to get a reward that is offered just to make himself more powerful whether it be jewels or boots. It shows he is hungry for power and that is what the Empire is about "Power" not evil acts or morals...
