If you don't like the way the class is set up, don't play it.
It's as simple as that. I am not a huge advocate of empowerment,
but I realize that it's infinitely better than what was in place
before. I am not thrilled with the prospect of having to catch my
patron god on at the same time that I am. Unfortunately, the type
of paladin I am looking at playing may rarely be on at the same
time.
*BUT* some of us crave immortal interaction. I've had so many
positive experiences that I keep hoping for more. I like the idea
of having my god actually watch me, and interact with me. I imagine
some really interesting "switching into mobs" and roleplaying situations
can occur.
I haven't played a paladin since empowerment was introduced. I can't
wait to roll one, and have some fun with my char's patron god.
