I have to disagree with you here. At high ranks their backstabs and circles get more and more powerful. With the right daggers, and an inkling of timing, they are assassins.

I completely agree with you that they are one-dimensional. Their in fight tactics amount to trip, dirt, kick and disarm. While its true that trip and cheap shot are wicked together, its an easy one to get around. If you're a thief, and you start a fight, you'd better hope it ends before your victim can yell.
