You only need to put two practices into any skill/spell on a duergar to get to 69%. Its not worth wasting another practice just for 6%, unless you really, really hate practicing and don't care that you are screwing your character in the long run.

IMHO, there's alot of skills, like prot, detects, etc that only need one practice since they cost so little mana to fail and you improve so fast. I'd rather save the pracs for hp later, that can apply to any race/class.
