From what you say, it's obvious you haven't had one. Once you have, the weaknesses become glaringly obvious.
To simplify, if you go and fight peroleth when he has the stoneform, barrier, a bound lesser ice devil and level 60 elemental, yes, you'll get tooled solo. It's just the nature of the class to be badass when at its game. The trick is not to play to them.
