I think what he's pointing out is a legitimate problem. A level 15 warrior with intimate knowledge of where every item in the game comes from, how every lowbie quest is run, and how all cabal powers work is not likely from an IC perspective.
I'm neither an elite nor a particularly good player but I consider myself a decent roleplayer, yet I've never played out ignorance of the Emerald Forest or kobold warren. I guess I figure that you've had some years before your actual emergence into game play, and that some basic knowledge like, 'What's parry and is it good?' has already been transmitted. The question, of course, is where to draw the line. So you have a basic idea of how to get around. Do you know about cabals? There's a helpfile, so I guess so. Do you know their powers? Maybe, maybe not. Might depend on your role. A character who grew up in Galadon would probably know a lot of stuff like that, just by rumour or what have you. A character from the Underdark or who had grown up in isolation, probably not. I do think there are just some things that you simply should *not* know, as your character. Saying, 'Oh, I know that Sylvans can hide in the wilderness.' is different than saying, 'Oh, I know how to zip through all nine levels of Hell.' The latter is something just about all our elite players are guilty of. Not that I'm pointing fingers. Certainly not.
