In today's society of education and easy exchange of information, archaic Gods and other faerie tales are being shown the door.

The fact that ideas of evil and good are changing. When two factions fight, they call each other evil, and lump all sorts of 'bad ideals' and nastiness into the behavior of the other, this makes it easier to go kill them, to put it simply. Each faction considers itself 'good' in this line of thinking of course.
What I am getting at is the REALITY of it, versus the fantasy of it. When you have Empire which is evil, the reality of it ... way back in midevil times, or Roman, or what have you, the group did not constantly beat down it's own members. They were considered evil from the opposing FACTIONS point of view, not from the inside.
Where is (battlerager) ...over in (city) ... so and so in anathemaed for not asking for gold.. this sort of log is a joke.
This is, in my educated opinion, blatant chaotic evil behavior, not lawful evil behavior.
