I also agree with the feedback, and give it to everyone of my potential empowerees. I can count on two hands the number of people who have been empowered the first time we spoke.
I'd be rich if I had a nickel for every person I told to "determine your role in this realm", "If you weren't so plain looking I might be inclined to speak to you", etc. At this point I jot a note down about them and why. I will not talk to them again until at least 24 hours (in real life) has passed. Sometimes this works and they leave, go off somewhere and think about the character (these people tend to get empowered later). Other people sit there at my shrine trying to come up with something as quick as they can because they know I'm around (these people tend not to get empowered).
I try to give as many chances as possible, I understand newbiehood, I understand first time empowerees, and I understand the frustrations of empowerment. When it comes down to the end and I've run out of ways to poke, prod, smack you in the right direction, you usually get some sort of information along the lines of Zulghinlour says 'You will gain my blessing when the Nine Hells have frozen over, and the Prince of Lies is my footstool'.
