The Masters were the "Masters of the Five Magics", from the "Story".
I beleive that the five magics were
Transmutation
invokation
evokation
conjuration
necromancy.
recently (somewhat) When the tower was restructured, it was changed to make more sense, to four magics.
transmutation (transmuters focus here)
invokation (invokers focus here)
conjuration (conjis focus here)
and
Necromancy (you guessed it)
