know of it. It is also in the description of a few elven mobs that they are "bladesingers". This has caused a number of Elven warriors in cf to think it would be a really cool character hook to be a warrior in search of the blade-song...hopeing to perhaps get a quest skill out of their chosen rp.

I agree with everything you said, except the above. I used the idea because the Bladesong seemed in line with a sylvan warder philosophy (creating symmetry out of discord - an act of beauty). I didn't play D&D, and only saw the Bladesingers in Darsylon, and I liked the name, and thought I was building on an idea half-formed. Anyway, Ahvlannon was a fun character that might have been decent, but I started dating a girl that never would have understood the whole CF addiction thing (shhhhh I just say I'm working at home) I quit playing him early, and I'm surprised and flattered that people actually remember him. Anyway, never intended to get a special skill or rip off cheesy RP off of some fantasy book. Getting a warrior into Sylvan seemed like a huge enough aspiration to me.

Side thought: Sebeok is very interesting to talk to. I think the first interview went a good four hours going over Ayn Rand territory. Hehe.

So, I have ten minutes while I'm waiting for a CD to burn, so since the topic is raised, if you're actually interested, here was Ahvlannon's take on the Bladesong:

The bladesong is creating symmetry out of discord. The metal is taken from the Earth's womb and shaped within flame and blessed with Her touch, and crafted with mortal hands into an instrument that acts as a catalyst for spirit and nature to commune together. Ahvlannon creates a whole out of separate parts; he brings these separate worlds together when he sings. Sadly, the song has been distilled and distorted through time, as men have used it to bring war and decay upon themselves, and used the instrument of the mother's womb to bring discord down upon Her. (Discord being war and slaughter).

Hmm.. gotta run. Well, you can see where this is going - there's something in there about the sacrafice of the individual and descent into mediocrity, also - but it's been over a year since I played Ahvlannon. Anyway, I tried to be more original than you suggest.
