I'm sure liches will constantly be changing as time goes on. Zorszaul was just as vulnerable as every other lich (which isn't much, but would still be easier than the near-impossible task of killing him now) before he got a lot of phylacteries, and doppel didn't hurt for gathering those. Another thing to take into account is that the playerbase is a lot different than the playerbase back in Istendil's day. Players seem alot less mature and more apt to bandwagoning now as compared to then, not to mention the skill of the current playerbase is heavily watered-down.

Zorszaul did indeed rank very quickly, but that was more of a knowledge to know exactly where to rank at each ranks and of course an invoker never hurts to rank with in Kiadana. And when you have the knowledge of where many items are from exploring, getting your quest items for your elixir become that much easier. Oh yeah, and I suppose his stellar roleplay didn't hurt, either, but I suppose you never interacted with him.

He might...but I doubt that is what got him in the position he is now.
